The Collection

From Egon Schiele to Andy Warhol

Peter Infeld owns a remarkable collection of contemporary art - paintings and sculptures - including the largest collection of the Viennese school of "Phantastic Realists" (Phantastische Realisten).

Andy Warhol, Halston, Acrylic and silkscreen/canvas, 1974

Together with his mother, Margaretha Infeld, he bought some of the first works exhibited by this group of artists. Margaretha was the soul of the Thomastik-Infeld enterprise and doyenne of Viennas art scene until her death in 1994.

Today, besides works of international artists such as Andy Warhol, Arnulf Rainer, Alfred Hrdlicka, Hundertwasser and Picasso, the collection includes an impressive number of "Naive Art" from Croatia and "Art Brut" works. Collector Peter Infeld directs his interests towards the discovery and sponsorship of contemporary art.

In 1998, Peter Infeld decided to show his collection for the first time to the public. The exhibit "Infeld 1" was follwed by an exhibition on the Croatian painter, Mijo Kovacic.
